14.07 Juddmonte EBF Restricted Maiden Stakes

JIFF’S ARMY could only finish seventh on debut, but he’s open to further improvement, and Rossa Ryan is booked to ride. MANY MEN shaped promisingly when second on debut at Newmarket and must be respected, while GAP YEAR and SQUARE D’ALBONI are others to consider in a tightly-knit opener.

Tips: Jiff’s Army, Many Men, Gap Year, Square D’alboni

14.42 Betfred ‘The Classic Bookmaker’ Handicap

Twice a winner on the all-weather, SUMMER OF LOVE caught the eye in a similar race when third at Doncaster last time out and is a major player off just a 1lb higher mark. PIZ NAIR’s form is working out well, so he’s definitely worth consideration, while SON OF MAN can be forgiven for his latest start at Royal Ascot and cannot be discounted at this lower level.

Tips: Summer Of Love, Piz Nair, Son Of Man

15.17 Robin Grossmith Memorial Handicap

The Ralph Beckett-trained HOT FASHION could be the answer to this contest. This filly opened her account in good style at Sandown last month and a 4lb rise shouldn’t prevent another bold effort. CELTIC WARRIOR finished fourth in a much hotter race at Goodwood last time out, though, and should go well off a 1lb lower mark.

Tips: Hot Fashion, Celtic Warrior

15.52 Betfred Amateurs’ Derby Handicap (Gentleman Amateur Jockeys)

LORD MELBOURNE won at York on his penultimate start and backed that up with a fine effort at Goodwood last time out when finishing fourth. Despite his big weight, Ralph Beckett’s charge is the one to beat. The consistent GORDON GREY, who is the likely pace angle, won’t go down without a fight, while the well-treated AIKHAL is another worth a second look.

Tips: Lord Melbourne, Gordon Grey, Aikhal

16.25 Trustford Handicap

ENGLISH SPIRIT is best known for his success on the all-weather at Wolverhampton, but he’s now below his last winning mark and a repeat of his penultimate third-place finish would be good enough form to beat these. AMANCIO has finished runner-up in three of his last four starts and should again be thereabouts.

Tips: English Spirit, Amancio

17.00 Betfred Nifty 50 Handicap

DREAM OF MISCHIEF produced a fine effort to marginally defeat MARLAY PARK over C&D when last spotted and has only been nudged up a couple of pounds. The latter is a course specialist though and must be respected. I’ll also include the extremely well-handicapped TANMAAWY, who has the class to beat these.

Tips: Dream Of Mischief, Tanmaawy, Marlay Park
