Speaking in Kakamega during the official launch for a new programme under the office of the president’s advisor on women rights as the curtains come to a close on the 16 days of activism, prime cabinet secretary Musalia Mudavadi has said the country would not continue condoning any form of abuse to women and children.

According to Mudavadi, Kenya was following in the footsteps of countries with a bad gender-based violence record and thus, there must be steps to reverese the tide.

To this end, Mudavadi, who was the chief guest at the event, has committed to a serious and vigourous campaign towards dealing firmly with perpetrators of GBV.

Statistics show that 4 in every 5 people are exposed to GBV, with a majority being women.

The campaign spearheaded by Harriette Chiggai, the president’s advisor on women rights, has also noted that boys are now at the risk of sodomy, more so from persons they consider close to them.

This new campaign targets the use of boda boda operators who have been tapped to champion the campaign countrywide. The thinking is they are the first point of call
