24th December 2024 – (Washington) Former U.S. President Bill Clinton was hospitalised on Monday at Georgetown University Medical Center in Washington, D.C., after developing a fever, according to Angel Urena, his Deputy Chief of Staff, who shared the news on the social media platform X.
“President Clinton was admitted this afternoon for testing and observation after developing a fever,” Urena stated. “He remains in good spirits and deeply appreciates the excellent care he is receiving.”
Clinton, who is 78 years old, has faced various health issues since leaving office. Notably, he underwent quadruple bypass surgery in 2004 at New York-Presbyterian Hospital. He returned to the same facility in 2010 for an additional heart procedure. Most recently, in 2021, he spent six days in UCLA Medical Center due to a urological infection.
Serving as the 42nd president of the United States from 1993 to 2001, Clinton’s presidency was marked by significant economic growth and a budget surplus, although it was also marred by personal scandals, including the infamous Monica Lewinsky affair.
Clinton remains married to Hillary Clinton, who was First Lady during his administration and has since served as a U.S. Senator and Secretary of State. She was the Democratic candidate for president in 2016 but was defeated by Donald Trump.
