27th December 2024 – (Hong Kong) At 9.59am this morning, an attempted burglary was reported at the Grandview Villa, located at 8 Yau Lai Road, Ting Kau, which is owned by the family of the late Deacon Chiu, founder of Far Eastern International Bank. Security personnel discovered that an independent house within the complex had sustained damage to its doors and windows, prompting them to alert the authorities.
Upon arrival, police contacted the property owner and conducted an initial investigation, which confirmed that no items had been stolen. The case has been classified as “attempted burglary.”
Details indicate that during a routine patrol, the security guard found that one of the vacant houses had its windows and main door pried open, showing signs of a disturbance inside. Reviewing the CCTV footage, police identified two suspects who entered the premises around 3am today, having breached the perimeter fence from a hillside along Tuen Mun Road. The suspects were dressed in black tops, black trousers, and light-coloured sneakers.
Grandview Villa comprises 16 independent houses, all owned by the Chiu family. Deacon Chiu passed away in 2015 after collapsing at the same residence.
