29th December 2024 – (Hong Kong) An industrial accident occurred on 28th December 2024 at the construction site above West Kowloon Station, resulting in the death of a 53-year-old male worker. At approximately 4.30pm, the worker was reportedly in the process of repositioning a large glass curtain wall measuring 5 by 2 metres when a canvas strap failed, causing the wall to collapse onto him.
Colleagues at the site immediately alerted emergency services. Rescue teams arrived promptly and managed to extricate the unconscious worker, who was subsequently transported to a hospital for emergency treatment. Unfortunately, despite their efforts, he succumbed to his injuries.
The police have cordoned off the area to conduct an investigation, categorising the incident as a fatal industrial accident. The case has been handed over to the relevant authorities for further examination and follow-up.
