29th December 2024 – (Seoul) A catastrophic incident involving a Jeju Air Boeing 737-800 occurred this morning, resulting in the tragic loss of 179 lives. The aircraft was carrying 175 passengers and six crew members when it crashed upon landing at Muan Airport in South Korea after reportedly encountering a flock of birds, which hindered the deployment of the landing gear.

The flight, which departed from Bangkok, attempted to land at approximately 9.07am. Eyewitness accounts and video footage revealed that the plane landed without its landing gear extended, skidding along the runway at high speed before veering off course and crashing into a protective barrier. Upon impact, the aircraft erupted into a massive fireball, with smoke billowing from the wreckage.

Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene, initiating rescue efforts from the rear of the aircraft. Despite their efforts, only two individuals—one passenger and one crew member—were successfully rescued from the wreckage.

In the aftermath of the disaster, Jeju Air has replaced its website’s homepage with a statement addressing the incident, expressing condolences and providing contact numbers for families seeking information about their loved ones. The airline has pledged to fully cooperate with investigations into the crash.
