1st January 2025 – (Hong Kong) A six-car collision on West Kowloon Highway claimed the life of a 30-year-old Pakistani driver, identified as Ali early morning today. The accident occurred around 1.44am when a taxi, driven by a 65-year-old man, reportedly cut across lanes and collided with Ali’s black private car. The force of the impact caused his vehicle to lose control, ultimately crashing into a concrete barrier and subsequently involving two taxis and three other cars.

Ali, who had lived in Hong Kong since childhood, was a dedicated family man and the primary breadwinner for his wife and two young children, ages one and five. His sister, Sara, revealed that Ali was celebrating the New Year with friends when the accident occurred. Although Ali had the night off from work, it remains unclear whether he had consumed alcohol. Following the crash, family members gathered at the hospital only to learn that Ali had been pronounced dead at the scene. The taxi driver has since been arrested for dangerous driving causing death, and police investigations are ongoing.
