3rd January 2025 – (Hong Kong) On New Year’s Day, a violent altercation occurred on the platform of the MTR Admiralty Station, heading towards Chai Wan, involving three individuals. Eyewitness footage captured the escalating confrontation, which began with a verbal dispute and quickly turned physical. In the video, a man in a checked shirt and a man in black can be seen arguing, while a blonde woman attempts to intervene. Unfortunately, she was struck on the head by the man in black and fell to the ground, prompting her male companion to retaliate.
The footage shows the man in the checked shirt launching a series of punches at the assailant, ultimately bringing him to the ground. By this point, MTR staff had arrived to assess the situation and attempted to de-escalate the conflict, as bystanders shouted for the fighting to stop. The incident required police intervention.
The MTR confirmed that the altercation took place around 1pm on 1st January, with staff members intervening before the police took over. Authorities reported that a 39-year-old local man and a 26-year-old female tourist were involved in the dispute. Both individuals later expressed discomfort, with the man being sent to Queen Mary Hospital for examination, while the woman declined hospital treatment. Following investigations, both parties agreed to settle the matter amicably, and no arrests were made.
