3rd January 2025 – (Guangzhou) Official data released on Friday revealed that over 27 million passenger trips were recorded at the Zhuhai port of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge in 2024, marking a remarkable 72% increase compared to the previous year. This figure represents a record high for the port.
In addition, the bridge facilitated more than 5.55 million vehicle trips, an impressive rise of 71% and the first time the number has surpassed 5 million.
Spanning 55 kilometres, the bridge connects Hong Kong, Macao, and Zhuhai in Guangdong Province, making it the longest bridge-and-tunnel sea crossing in the world.
Notably, daily passenger traffic at the port exceeded 100,000 on 50 separate days throughout 2024, reflecting a tenfold increase from 2023. Furthermore, vehicles registered in Hong Kong or Macao accounted for more than 3 million trips, representing 55% of the total traffic at the port.
