14.00 Racing Partnership TRP Amateur Jockeys’ Handicap Hurdle

SADDLERS QUEST was in good form last season, winning three consecutive contests, including twice over C&D, and must be respected, with conditions ideal. Tom Broughton is four-from-nine with his rides here (44%), and his mount KARAKOY could do best of the remainder.

Tips: Saddlers Quest, Karakoy

14.30 newtonabbotracing.com Juvenile Maiden Hurdle

SPANISH POET was the best of these on the Flat, achieving a figure in the mid 80s, and despite losing his way for former connections, the switch to hurdles on stable debut for Syd Hosie may see him competitive. GOLDEN PATH made the frame in both starts on the Flat and being Adam Wedge’s only ride, as well as Evan William’s only runner, so she goes on the shortlist.

Tips: Spanish Poet, Golden Path

15.00 Chris Matthews And His Amigos Novices’ Hurdle

Paul Nicholls’ HUELGOAT has a good record here that reads figures of 2211, and the seven-year-old enhanced that statistic when winning over C&D 20 days ago. Plenty of his rivals have something to prove at present, so he is fancied to concede weight all around.  Emma Lavelle’s RAMENSKY got off the mark in this sphere at Hereford when last spotted, though, beating a subsequent winner by 10 lengths and warrants inclusion, with the prospect of more to come. This should prove to be a shootout between the top two in the market.

Tips: Huelgoat, Ramensky

15.30 William Hill Leading Racecourse Bookmaker Handicap Chase

ICARE GRANDCHAMP returned from a six-month absence to finish second at Southwell, splitting two horses rated 107 and 109. His handicap rating has only been nudged up 1lb as a result, and a repeat showing could see him go one better in this lower grade. The veteran of the field MAGIC DANCER is dropped into a class 5 in this sphere for the first time and cannot be ruled out, while C&D winner BEGIN THE LUCK and the well-handicapped IMPERIAL JOE are others to note in an open contest.

Tips: Icare Grandchamp, Magic Dancer, Begin The Luck, Imperial Joe

16.00 Lisa Tudor Happy 60th Birthday Today Novices’ Limited Handicap Hurdle

Anthony Honeyball has an impressive 25% strike-rate here at the time of writing, and his representative, KONIGIN ISABELLA, could go well if able to build on her fourth at Stratford at the beginning of the month. OUR DYLAN only found one too good in his hat-trick bid over C&D last time out and is feared most, while QUEEN OF STEEL isn’t out of this on the back of a solid third-place at Stratford.

Tips: Konigin Isabella, Our Dylan, Queen Of Steel

16.30 Tilly And Seth Wedding Party Handicap Hurdle

LALLYGAG lost nothing in defeat when runner-up in a stronger race than this at Worcester last time out and should be difficult to beat off a 1lb lower mark. MR YEATS was only two lengths adrift of Lallygag in the formerly-mentioned race, though, and is a two-time winner over C&D, so he is definite shortlist material.

Tips: Lallygag, Mr Yeats
