We have received one of the cases, where the complainant claims that he went to buy a TV on Luthuli Avenue. He was told to pay Ksh 12,000 but the amount he ended up paying was unbelievable.

“Okay I sent someone to buy a 32 inch TV,he went and negotiated for a smart TV at a price of 12k,as they were packing it they started to tell him that there is a service fee of 3500 plus you’ll be paying every month for the package like the startimes, they gave him an option to take a 24 inch lather than the 32 one,it was so much of confusion that he ended up adding another 3k not for the smart but for a digital one this people are thieves”,the buyer narrated.

In Luthuli Avenue, if you don’t want to be scammed, visit those shops owned by the Somali, they are a bit genuine. First, ensure that the TV is original and comes with a sales Warranty. Ask them to write a receipt and the warranty before accepting to buy the TV.

When you buy one, they MUST test whether it’s working and please don’t allow them to take to other room to pack it for you—let them pack where you can see.

If you don’t want to buy from Luthuli Avenue, there are other good options—like Jumia,Sony and Samsung shops. There is also TCL and Hisense shops in Nairobi.

Avoid buying second hand TVs because most of them are stolen from homes.
