The red-hot fury of the Merseyside derby between Liverpool and Everton will headline the midweek Matchday 30 fixtures in the Premier League from Tuesday, April 1 to Thursday, April 3, 2025.
There is no better place to get your season-long ticket to the best football the world has to offer than DStv and GOtv.
For Liverpool, who welcome local rivals Everton to Anfield on Wednesday evening, this clash will be a further step in their inevitable coronation as champions – for the 20th time overall and the second time in the Premier League era.
But more importantly, the Reds will be chasing bragging rights, having been held to an exciting 2-2 draw by the Toffees when the teams met at Goodison Park in February. Liverpool manager Arne Slot was sent off in the wake of that match, and will be hoping to keep his emotions more under check this time around.
“Emotions got the better of me. If I could do that differently, if I look back I would love to do that differently, and I hope to do that differently next time,” admitted the Dutch tactician.
The midweek action opens on Tuesday night with a London derby between Arsenal and Fulham at the Emirates Stadium, Wolverhampton Wanderers host West Ham United at Molineux Stadium, and Nottingham Forest will target a league ‘double’ over Manchester United at the City Ground – having beaten the Red Devils 3-2 when the teams met at Old Trafford back in December.
“If you ignore the talent and the defensive part of the game, you are making a mistake,” said Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo in regards to his team’s defensive strength this season. “We’ll try to avoid till the end because it’s the basic pillar for us is a clean sheet. We are proud of achieving clean sheets.”
Sitting in third place on the log, Forest will welcome Manchester United to City Ground on Tuesday, 1 April.
United will head into their next league game on the back of a 3-0 win against Leicester City, as the Red Devils begin to click under Ruben Amorim.
Leading the charge at wing-back for United, Mazraoui got the backing of Amorim, who expressed that the Moroccan has been giving it his all despite fasting during the month of Ramadan.
“I appreciate the effort by Nous Mazraoui, he is ‘dead’. He’s completely tired,” Amorim said. “He’s fasting and he’s playing all of the minutes. He is amazing.”
Elsewhere, Brentford will hope to build on from their 2-1 win against Bournemouth last time out, when they take on Newcastle United at St. James’ Park on Wednesday, 2 March.
Right-back Michael Kayode, who is of Nigerian descent, has expressed his desire to do well under Thomas Frank this season.
“I’m so excited because I wanted to come here so much,” Kayode said. “I think Brentford is the perfect club for me. I love the stadium, the fans and my team-mates.”
Wednesday, aside from the Merseyside derby, also features Manchester City at home to Leicester City, and Brighton & Hove Albion at home to Aston Villa, while Thursday’s lone game sees London rivals Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur renew their mutual enmity with a clash at Stamford Bridge.
“First of all they have good players and a good manager. It’s very clear what they want to do on and off the ball. What kind of problems they have, I don’t know? You have to be there to understand. A fantastic team,” said Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca of the challenge facing his charges.
