About Ministry of Interior, Qatar
Public security and all matters concerning law and order in the state of Qatar are managed by the Ministry of Interior (MOI). The Police Force is the main agency operated by the MOI that works in aspects of policing and investigating criminal activities and offenses. Within the force exist several sections and departments such as the Criminal Investigation Dept, Forensic Lab Dept, Human Rights Department, Medical Services Dept, Airport Security Dept, and Traffic Patrol Dept, to name a few. The General Directorate of Public Security is divided into the Capital Security Dept, Al Rayyan Security Dept, North Security Dept, South Security Dept, Dukhan Security Dept, Airport Security Dept, and the Rescue Police Dept (Al-Fazaa), among others.
Capital Security is responsible for maintaining security and protecting the lives of residents in the capital Doha. It also works round the clock to prevent crime and investigate reports and complaints. It even oversees the Madina Khalifa Police Station, Al-Sadd Police Station, and Mesaimeer Police Station. The Al Rayyan Security Department is responsible for maintaining security and preventing crime in the Al Rayyan area. While the North Security Dept is responsible for policing in the northern areas, the South Security Dept operates from its headquarters in Al Wakra. Under the South Security Dept comes the Mesaieed Police Station and Amekaines Police Station. The Dukhan Security Dept is responsible for public security and crime prevention in Dukhan City, Umm Baab, and Al Shahaniya areas. Security patrols throughout the country are taken care of by the Rescue Police Dept, also known as Al-Fazaa.
The Qatar Ministry of Interior website has details on the locations and provides phone numbers and chief functions of each department. Additionally, you can avail a number of services online without visiting any of the branches. You can get fire safety plans approved, engineering drawings approved, early warning system licensed, get a Qatari ID, report lost items, and apply for a Qatari passport. If you need a police clearance certificate, you can find the details, including the fees online.
As for traffic, the MOI allows licensing and registration of drivers and vehicles online. The General Directorate of Traffic is responsible for organizing smooth traffic flow, investigating traffic incidents, and issuing vehicle and driver licenses. The fee for the registration and licensing of vehicles is posted online. Additionally, if there are traffic violations, you can know the penalty and get payment details. For more information or queries on police stations, reporting crimes, human rights violations, traffic incidents, fees, forms, or others, reach the Qatar Ministry of Interior support.
