14.15 Clipper EBF Marygate Fillies’ Stakes (Listed)

INVINCIBLE ANNICE is related to some top-class horses and shaped with bundles of promise when finishing second on her debut. Karl Burke has won the last two renewals of this race, so with improvement to come, she must be highly respected. Debutant winners MISS LAMAI and RUBY’S PROFIT are others to consider, with more to come.

Tips: Invincible Annice, Miss Lamai, Ruby’s Profit

14.45 Knights Solicitors Handicap

BOTANICAL returned an easy winner at Hamilton in October, and that form has worked out well, with subsequent winners emerging from the race since. He could be hard to beat. EPIC POET is the choice of Danny Tudhope, and although he’s disappointed in three starts in the UK, time is still on his side. EILEAN DUBH is 3Ib below his last winning mark and should be thereabouts.

Tips: Botanical, Epic Poet, Eilean Dubh

15.15 Sky Bet Fillies’ Stakes (Listed)

BRIGHT THUNDER made a sparkling debut at Haydock, winning by five lengths, and is open to even further improvement. TRUE CYAN beat a pair of subsequent winners on her debut prior to finishing fourth in a Group 3 race on her next start. She should be in the mix at this lower level, while GLIMPSED should be monitored on her return after winning a hot maiden on her debut at Newmarket.

Tips: Bright Thunder, True Cyan, Glimpsed

15.45 Boodles Yorkshire Cup Stakes (Group 2)

VAUBAN failed to justify strong market support when he finished down the field in the Melbourne Cup, but he won his two previous starts on the flat and is a multiple Grade 1 winner over hurdles. He goes well fresh and is strongly fancied to resume winning ways under William Buick. I think he will have too much pace for the favourite. AL QAREEM has continued to raise his game and cannot be ruled out, with more to offer.

Tips: Vauban, Al Qareem

16.15 Darley EBF Novice Stakes

FIRST CONQUEST marginally got the better of Lead Artist on his debut at Newmarket and is fancied to confirm that form here. UNDER SIEGE finished a close-up second to subsequent Dante Stakes winner Economics on his debut, and, with more to offer, he has every chance of going one place better.

Tips: First Conquest, Under Siege

16.45 Yorkshire Equine Practice Handicap

CRAVEN gets a huge pull in the weights with Eldrickjones, who finished a place in front of him when fourth over C&D in October. Richard Fahey’s charge has gone close twice off this mark previously, so he could easily exceed market expectations. TROPEZ POWER was runner-up at this course last year off a 2Ib higher mark, so he’s a definite player. The grade-dropping CAROLUS MAGNUS is another to include.

Tips: Craven, Tropez Power, Carolus Magnus
