Egypt claimed third place at the U-17 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON U-17) after defeating Morocco 2-0 in the third-place playoff.
The Young Pharaohs produced a disciplined performance to overcome their North African rivals and finish the tournament on a high note by securing the bronze medal.
Egypt broke the deadlock in the 33rd minute through Mohamed El Sayed. The winger delivered a dangerous cross that deceived the Moroccan goalkeeper before finding its way into the back of the net to give Egypt the lead.
Ahmed Beshir sealed the victory deep into stoppage time. In the 101st minute, he became one-on-one with the goalkeeper after receiving a pass from Seif Karim before finishing into the net to make it 2-0 and confirm Egypt’s triumph.
Attention now turns to the tournament final, where Senegal will face Tanzania on Tuesday, June 2. The match is scheduled to kick off at 7:00 PM GMT (10:00 PM East Africa Time) as both sides battle for the U-17 Africa Cup of Nations title.
