Egyptian giants Al Ahly Sporting Club have been crowned champions of the 47th CAVB African Men’s Volleyball Club Championship after a commanding straight-sets victory over hosts Rwanda Police Volleyball Club in the final held at BK Arena in Kigali on 2 May 2026.
Al Ahly sealed the title with a 3-0 win (25-20, 25-21, 25-22), underlining their dominance throughout the tournament and capping off an unbeaten run with a composed performance on the biggest stage.
In front of a packed and vibrant crowd, the Egyptian side showcased their experience and quality, controlling key moments of the match despite spirited resistance from Rwanda Police VC.
The hosts, playing in their first-ever continental final, pushed hard in each set but were unable to break Al Ahly’s rhythm, as the North African powerhouse maintained consistency in attack and defence to close out the match in straight sets.
The victory secures Al Ahly yet another continental crown, reinforcing their status as one of Africa’s most successful volleyball clubs.
Despite falling short in the final, Rwanda Police VC will take pride in a historic campaign that saw them reach their maiden final on home soil.
Backed by a passionate Kigali crowd, Police VC emerged as one of the standout teams of the tournament, with their runner-up finish marking a significant milestone for Rwandan volleyball.
