28th December 2024 – (Hong Kong) Hong Kong is bracing for a significant drop in temperatures, with forecasts predicting a minimum of around 13 degrees Celsius tomorrow morning. The chill will be more pronounced in the New Territories, where temperatures are expected to fall a few degrees lower, adding to the cold conditions across the region.

A dry northeast monsoon is currently influencing the weather in southern China, resulting in generally fine and dry conditions. This afternoon, relative humidity levels across much of Hong Kong dipped below 40 per cent, contributing to a brisk atmosphere.

Looking ahead, tomorrow will continue to see mainly fine and dry weather, with daytime temperatures reaching a maximum of approximately 17 degrees. Moderate north to northeasterly winds will shift to moderate to fresh easterlies later in the day.

The outlook for the coming days indicates that the cool, dry conditions will persist through Monday and New Year’s Eve, with mornings remaining cool and daytime temperatures turning milder. However, cloud cover is expected to increase on New Year’s Day and Thursday. As the northeast monsoon weakens early next week, daytime temperatures across Guangdong are likely to rise slightly, although another surge of the northeast monsoon may bring cooler weather back to the region later in the week.
