3rd January 2025 – (Hong Kong) This morning, three separate break-in incidents occurred at rubbish collection stations in the Sai Kung and Tseung Kwan O areas, affecting employee rest areas and storage rooms.
One of the affected sites was the Tai Po Tsai (I) Rubbish Collection Point on Clear Water Bay Road. At around 8am, staff returning to the site discovered that the lock on the rest area had been sawed off, and the room showed signs of ransacking. The lock on the adjacent storage room was also missing. Reports indicate that both areas contained employees’ personal items but no valuables, with the extent of the losses yet to be determined.
Approximately 500 metres from this location, another break-in was reported at a rubbish collection station. Staff noted that the lock on the employees’ rest area was damaged, and losses are still being assessed.
Furthermore, at 8.19am, police received reports of a break-in at the Muk Min Shan Fibreglass Refuse Collection Point in Sai Kung, where the door lock to the staff rest area had been forced open, and signs of theft were evident, although the exact losses remain unclear.
