31st December 2024 – (Haikou) Recently, a primary school student at Haikou Lingshan Town Central Primary School fell from a height, resulting in his death. Following this incident, rumours circulated online suggesting that the student had been a victim of bullying and corporal punishment. However, the Meilan District Joint Investigation Team clarified on Sunday, 29th December, that the student’s death was consistent with a fall and ruled out any criminal activity, asserting that the circulating information was false.
Reports indicate that several teachers discovered the student unresponsive and foaming at the mouth in a vacant area behind the school building around 6pm on Tuesday, 24th December. Emergency services were called immediately, but despite their efforts, the student was pronounced dead at the scene.
In response to the incident, local authorities, including the education department and law enforcement, formed a joint investigation team to conduct a thorough inquiry while providing support to the family affected by this tragedy.
