26th December 2024 – (Singapore) Singapore’s manufacturing sector exhibited a notable 8.5% year-on-year upswing in production for November, as per the figures unveiled by the Economic Development Board on Thursday. This robust growth follows a 1.2% expansion in October.
The electronics domain emerged as the primary driver of this surge, showcasing a substantial 26.2% year-on-year escalation last month. The buoyant performance in electronics production was underpinned by strong outputs in semiconductors, computer peripherals, data storage, as well as infocomm and consumer electronics segments.
Moreover, the realm of precision engineering also witnessed positive growth trends during November. However, sectors such as chemicals, transport engineering, general manufacturing, and biomedical manufacturing experienced declines in output.
In terms of a seasonally adjusted month-on-month comparison, manufacturing output displayed a slight 0.4% decrease in November, indicating a nuanced fluctuation in production levels.
