8th January 2025 – (Hong Kong) Two female passengers, one from Hong Kong and the other from mainland China, have been charged with disruptive conduct on a Cathay Pacific flight arriving from Sapporo, Japan. The incident occurred when the pair reportedly engaged in an argument that escalated into throwing cushions at one another.
The case was brought before the West Kowloon Magistrates’ Courts on 8th January, where both defendants were not required to enter a plea. The presiding magistrate adjourned the proceedings until 5th February, granting each woman bail set at HK$3,000.
The accused are identified as 32-year-old Tsui Tsz-kiu, a saleswoman holding a Hong Kong identity card, and 60-year-old Zhang Xinyan, a housewife from the mainland.
Tsui is alleged to have thrown a blanket and cushion at Zhang on 6th January, 2025, aboard Cathay Pacific flight CX581, which landed at Hong Kong International Airport. This action reportedly posed a risk to the order and discipline on the aircraft. In turn, Zhang is also accused of throwing similar items at Tsui during the same incident.
