24th December 2024 – (Hong Kong) Judd Trump, world’s number one snooker player, has officially become a Hong Kong resident through the city’s Quality Migrant Admission Scheme. This announcement was made by Hong Kong Talent Engage (HKTE), the government office dedicated to attracting international talent. Trump’s relocation follows the recent residency grant to fellow snooker star Ronnie O’Sullivan, who became a Hong Kong resident just two months earlier.

In a video shared on social media by HKTE, Trump expressed his enthusiasm for his new home, stating, “I am here because I enjoy the city, I love everything about Hong Kong – the food, the people, and the buildings. It is inspiring for me to be here.” The 35-year-old player, who has achieved significant success in his career, is also celebrating a personal connection to the city, as his girlfriend, figure skater and TV presenter Maisy Ma, is originally from Hong Kong.

Maisy Ma, 25, is a well-known local figure, recognised not only for her accomplishments on the ice but also for her vibrant presence in the media. With a substantial following on social media, she frequently shares glimpses of her life, showcasing her talent and passion for figure skating. Ma’s connection to Hong Kong runs deep, and her local insights and cultural ties are likely to enrich Trump’s experience in the city.
