Fans of Spanish football don’t have to wait long for another round of LALIGA EA SPORTS fixtures. Following the midweek matchday which just took place, there is another full slate of fixtures coming up this weekend.
And, the matchday starts with a blockbuster fixture, as Real Betis host Real Madrid on Friday night. Los Blancos haven’t won any of their past three away games against the Andalusian side, so this promises to be a tricky fixture for Álvaro Arbeloa’s men, but they’ll need to take all three points if they want to have any chance of catching leaders FC Barcelona. It should be a fascinating watch.

There are then four fixtures on Saturday, starting with a crucial relegation six-pointer. Deportivo Alavés, who have now slipped into the relegation zone, host RCD Mallorca, a team just two points above them in the standings. This is such an important game in determining who’ll stay up and who’ll go down.
Next up is a duel between the two most in-form clubs from the past two months: Getafe CF and FC Barcelona. The Catalans remain at the top of the table thanks to a run of eight league wins in a row, while Getafe CF are the second-most in-form team across the past seven matchdays, with five wins in that time. It’ll be interesting to see who comes out on top on Saturday afternoon, and a Barça loss could shake up the title race.

Valencia CF and Girona FC meet in the next game, a clash between two clubs who sit semi-comfortably above the relegation zone, although both coaches would like another three-point haul to truly build up a cushion.
Then, the Saturday night game is a classic of LALIGA EA SPORTS, as Atlético de Madrid face off against Athletic Club. These two clubs share historic links, and they also share poor runs of form. They have both lost six times already in the second half of the season, with Atleti losing their past four in the league, so both sides will be keen to turn in a positive performance here.

The first of Sunday’s games also pits a club from Madrid against a club from the Basque Country, as Rayo Vallecano host Real Sociedad. Ahead of their upcoming Conference League semi-final, Los Franjirrojos will want to turn in a positive performance against the Copa del Rey champions to boost confidence.
The attention turns to the relegation battle later on Sunday, with 20th-positioned Real Oviedo meeting 16th-positioned Elche CF. The bottom-placed side have taken 10 points from their past five matches to give themselves a fighting chance of survival, and beating a direct relegation rival like Elche CF would give the fans in Asturias even more hope.

Sevilla FC are also very much at risk of relegation, currently sitting 17th, so their away game against CA Osasuna is a huge one for the club. Lose in Pamplona, and the alarm bells will sound even louder in the red and white half of Seville.
Villarreal CF vs RC Celta is the Sunday night game, and it could be a night of celebrations at the Estadio de la Cerámica. If Real Betis lose to Real Madrid on the Friday night, then Villarreal CF would be able to mathematically confirm Champions League qualification by beating the Galicians on Sunday night. Every Champions League qualification is something to celebrate at El Submarino Amarillo, so this is a match to watch out for.
The final game of the matchday takes place on Monday night, when an RCD Espanyol side in terrible form host a Levante UD team on a brilliant run. The team from Valencia have won three of their past four matches to move to within two points of safety, and they’ll hope to keep that run going at the RCDE Stadium.
